Learning Lenses
I have been a chronic shiny thing enthusiast for some time now, and I usually dont beat myself up over it too much, but it unfortunately does come in the way of deeply understanding anything before the goldfish inside me wiggles away to the new, shinier thing.
Given that I dont want just a shallow spread of knowledge, I am trying to search for ālearning lensesā. The feel for what I mean is: āI wanna learn stats through the lens of time series forecastingā. Not a ground breaking idea, I know, but nevertheless it feels like a good analogy, because just like a lens it can focus a wide set of knowledge nodes into something intellectually digestible. I might also become a good lensmaker if I do this a few times.
One lens I canāt wait to look through is ācad software through making a 3d printed magikarp that flops on my desk when my agents need my attentionā. I think others just call it project based learning but that sounds a little hackneyed tbh.
